Local storage is private and free, but it comes with real limitations worth knowing before you rely on it.
Your data lives in the browser you opened the app in — Chrome on your laptop is separate from Safari on your phone. Opening the app in a different browser or on a different device starts fresh, with no data.
There's no automatic sync. To move your data to another device, or just to keep a safe copy, go to Settings → Data & backup → Download backup. This saves a small JSON file to your downloads. Do it regularly — treat it like saving a document.
Open the app on the new device, go to Settings → Data & backup → Restore from backup, and upload your saved file. Everything comes back exactly as you left it — transactions, shifts, categories, all of it.
If you clear your browser's site data or cookies, the app data goes with it. The backup file is your safety net. If you're the kind of person who regularly clears browsing data, download a backup first.
Nobody else can access your financial data — not us, not advertisers, not a server breach. Your bank transactions and pay details stay entirely on the device you chose. That's the trade-off, and we think it's the right one for sensitive data.
You can export your data as a spreadsheet (Excel or CSV) at any time from Settings. Your data is always yours to take away, in a format you can open anywhere.
